Application for Lateral Transfers for Police Department
Applications and requirements can be downloaded from the City of Independence, Ohio, website at www.independenceohio.org only (Government tab then Civil Service tab) beginning Monday, January 13, 2025.
Applicants are required to provide proof of a current OPOTA Peace Officer certificate as well as a notarized application showing at least one year of full-time police officer employment within the past two years.
You must be at least 21 years of age, have a valid Ohio driver's license and pass a physical agility test. All applicants will be required to pass a department-issued physical fitness test based on the state standards (basic level). The physical fitness test will be given prior to any interviews. For those that are selected a panel interview will be performed, there will NOT be a written exam. All candidates should be able to pass a comprehensive background check, polygraph, and medical examination prior to appointment.
Applications, along with the required materials, must be returned in person between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, January 13, 2025, to Friday, February 14, 2025, to the City of Independence Police Department. The order of applicant submissions will be noted in case of ties. Applications turned in after 4 p.m. on February 14, 2025, will not be accepted.
Pay Range: $58,800.00 - $99,100.00
