The Chiefland Police Department is seeking dedicated, community-oriented individuals to join our team as Police Officers. Our officers play a vital role in ensuring public safety, fostering trust, and promoting a secure environment for the residents of Chiefland.
Responsibilities:
- Enforce local, state, and federal laws within the city of Chiefland.
- Conduct routine patrols to deter and detect criminal activity.
- Respond promptly to emergency and non-emergency calls for service.
- Investigate crimes, accidents, and incidents, gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses.
- Make arrests and issue citations when necessary, following department procedures.
- Prepare detailed and accurate reports for court and departmental use.
- Build positive relationships with community members through outreach, education, and engagement.

- Participate in training to stay current on law enforcement best practices, policies, and procedures.
- Work collaboratively with other law enforcement agencies and first responders.
Requirements:
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- At least 21 years of age.
- High school diploma or equivalent; college coursework in criminal justice is a plus.
- Certification by the Florida Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission (CJSTC) or currentlyenrolled in a Florida-approved law enforcement academy.
- Valid Florida driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
- Ability to pass a comprehensive background check, drug screening, and psychological evaluation.
- Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
- Commitment to ethical conduct and professionalism.
